I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From whence shall my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel.
Will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun will not smite you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord will protect you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in
From this time forth and forever (Psalm 121).

For the Non-Christian
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal
life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world,
but that the world should be saved through Him (John 3:16, 17).
I pray heavenly father, that you will be gracious to me, O God, according to Thy lovingkindness;
According to the greatness of Thy compassion forgive my transgressions.
Wash me throughly from my iniquity.
And cleanse me from my sin.
Against Thee, Thee only, I have sinned,
And done what is evil in Thy sight,
So that Thou art justified when Thou dost speak,
And blameless when Thou dost judge
Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean'
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Make me to hear joy and gladness,
Let the bones which Thou has broken rejoice.
Hide Thy face from my sins,
And forgive all my iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from Thy presence,
And do not take Thy Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation,
And sustain me with a willing spirit (Psalm 51:1-4, 7-12).

Text: Exodus 20:12
HONOR THY FATHER
A commandment giving the opportunity to teach important lessons and
hopefully resulting in God-fearing future citizens. Remember, God's word
is to be taught "diligently" in the home (Deut. 6:7). This requires earnest
and special explanation. Not to be simply quoted for the sake of upholding
authority.
I. ITS BACKGROUND, is the relationship of the nation of Israel to God (Gen. 12 ff)
A. All authority traces back to God, who wants good for all.
1. He shows His desire to help parents in their work.
2. He is the teacher and guide of these precious souls.
II. THE FATHERS AWESOME ROLE IS:
A. To rule his household well. (1 Tim. 3:5).
B. To be a physical provider. (1 Tim. 5:8).
C. To Nurture... (Eph. 6:4).
1. Not to provoke, but to encourage. (Col. 3:21).
2. To seek education - secular & SPIRITUAL
a. For service to God - (Prov. 22:6; Isa.38:19)
b. For obedience to God - (Deut . 32:46)
c. For instilling confidence in God. (Psa. 78:1-8)
