Welcome

We welcome you to Monday night prayer. Tonight our prayers go out to those who are afflicted, lack discipline, and are experiencing trials. We know that all affliction is not for specific sins. God is not a cruel God who sends affliction to hurt you. When affliction comes in your life, you must use it to gain purity and to strengthen your faith, for the glory of God. 1st Peter 1:6-7 "In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. "

Tonight, I want you to know, that God never sends trials to cause you to suffer. You must go through trials and use the experience to develop patience in yourself through God who strengthens you. James 1:2-4 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perserverance. Perserverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Monday night prayer is a good opportunity to show thanks for what the Lord has done for us. In most cases, we have come through many events during the past weekend that have proven to be stressful and have created some manner of affliction in our lives. We can learn form the psalmist who was thankful for affliction because it taught him to keep God's precepts. Psalm 119:67-68 "Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey Your word. You are good, and what You do is good; teach me Your decrees."
Psalm 119:71-72 "It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn Your decrees. The law from Your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver of gold.
Psalm 119:75-76 "I know, O Lord, that Your laws are rightous, and in faithfulness you have afflicted me. May Your unfailing love be my comfort, according to Your promise to Your servant."

What a wonderful God we serve. He is the good Father who lovingly chastises us His children and guides us to a place where we can learn of Him. We serve and awesome God. Hallelujah!
